SmartHQ is a smart home app that lets the users to manager and control smart appliances from GE house of brands at home. One of the key experience is appliances commissioning, which is pairing the appliances to the app for the first time.
My "AR commissioning" concept enhanced the success rate of commissioning with better accessibility. This concept passed the review, and this feature is currently under development.
01. Project Goal
The previous commissioning design requires the users to navigate multiple screens, and read text and illustration instructions on each page throughout the process. The complicated experiences cause the less than 50% success rate of commissioning, which turned a large number of the users away from accessing the smart features.
AR Commissioning Concept
I redesigned the commissioning flow by integrating AR technology into the process. It will instruct the users to point their phone to specific parts of the appliances with both voice and text instructions.
